[ Surviving his fight with Aomine was good. Suddenly losing Kuroko in the middle of it was bad. It's a small miracle he's even still standing here after that, and even then that it wouldn't be possible if Kise and Kasamatsu hadn't been there with a timely interruption to keep Sakurai from shutting down his brain. Even then, Kagami had emerged from the fights with more bruises than he cared to admit, a dislocated shoulder, and a single bullet graze to keep him out of further fights for a while.
It's been more than week since then, and Kagami still isn't in any condition to do any fighting. He is, however, in good enough condition to casually stroll into a hospital like he belongs. Thanks to Riko, he does belong as far as the hospital AIs are concerned. Kise and Kasamatsu--forever pretending that no, really, they didn't know much about the situation at all!--had managed to provide Kagami's team with Kuroko's hospital room number. It was a marked improvement over when Kagami had only had the name of the hospital and nothing else to go on. Which was only part one. Getting into the hospital, hacked AIs or otherwise, is another mess on its own.
It's actually opening the door to Kuroko's room that's difficult. Opening the door with no knowledge as to whether or not Kuroko would remember him. Without knowing if he'd already been forced back to sleep and reprogrammed. Without knowing if he was even still really there. Kagami finds himself lingering at the doorway uncertainly for long enough to get stared at by a passing nurse. Right then. Now or never. Kagami turns the doorknob and gives the door a tentative push, then leans inside. ]
Kuroko...?
